YESAFILI is an FDA-approved medication used to treat the following conditions1:

AMD occurs when abnormal “leaky” blood vessels grow under the part of the eye responsible for sharp central vision, known as the macula. These fragile vessels can quickly leak fluid or blood, causing a blister-like buildup that disrupts the ability to see fine details clearly.2

DME is a complication of diabetes from high blood sugar that can weaken blood vessels supplying the retina, causing them to leak fluid into the macula. This accumulation leads to swelling and thickening of the central retina, which can distort your vision.3

RVO occurs when a blood clot or blockage in one of the veins in the retina prevents blood from draining properly, creating a backup of pressure. This pressure forces fluid out of the vessels and into the macula, causing sudden swelling behind the eye that results in blurred or grayed vision.4

DR is a progressive disease where chronic high blood sugar can damage the network of tiny blood vessels across the entire retina. In its early stages, vessels may bulge or leak. In advanced stages, the eye may grow new fragile vessels that can bleed and lead to significant vision impairment if not managed.5

How These Conditions May Affect Sight2-5

While the underlying causes differ, each of these conditions involves fluid buildup or damage that can lead to similar visual disruption. Patients typically experience:

  • Blurred or distorted vision (straight lines appearing wavy)
  • “Blank spots” or dark areas in the center of your sight
  • Muted colors and difficulty reading or recognizing faces

How YESAFILI is administered

YESAFILI is administered by a qualified ophthalmologist or retina specialist as a retinal injection.1

You may experience certain common side effects following an injection, such as increased redness in the eye, eye pain, cataract, vitreous (gel-like substance) detachment, vitreous floaters, moving spots in the field of vision, and increased pressure in the eye.1

*Although YESAFILI may be dosed as frequently as 2 mg every 4 weeks (approximately every 25 days, monthly), additional efficacy was not demonstrated in most patients when aflibercept was dosed every 4 weeks compared to every 8 weeks. Although not as effective as the recommended every 8 week dosing regimen, patients may also be treated with 1 dose every 12 weeks after 1 year of effective therapy. Patients should be assessed regularly.

Here are some things that will help you be prepared before, during, and after your upcoming eye appointments.

Before

  • Call the doctor’s office and confirm how long the appointment will last, and what you should expect
  • Be sure to ask them if you should bring anything, such as a list of your current prescriptions or a pair of dark glasses 
  • Start making a list of any questions you would like answered during your visit
  • Make sure you have someone to drive you to and from the appointment

During

  • Your doctor may run tests to check the condition of your eyes before administering YESAFILI
  • Before beginning treatment with YESAFILI, they will clean, disinfect, and numb your eye
  • Following your YESAFILI injection, they will check your eye pressure

After

  • Do not drive or use any heavy machinery as you may have temporary vision changes 
  • Wear dark glasses if your eyes are sensitive to light, especially when outdoors
  • Be sure to monitor your eyes and vision at home in between visits to your retina specialist
